| Head cold head fake |

Wow, I've really been absent from this blog, haven't I?
Partly because I had a bit of a spyware scare on my computer and didn't want to log in to stuff. It could have been a false positive, but even now that it's scanned clean about a zillion times, I'm still a bit nervous about punching in my various logins. I still haven't logged into BratzWorld or anything. So I'm totally out of the loop again.
But mostly it's because I got another energy-sucking head cold which just coming back every time I think I have it beat, like some kind of maddening Final Fantasy end boss or something. I may be saving big on gas by taking the Skytrain to work, but I'm paying for it with my upper respiratory tract.
The biggest drawback being, every time I'm tempted to do a little doll browsing on the way home, it's overruled by my urge to go home and knock back a giant mug of Neo Citran. That's bad, because the Haute Couture en Coulisse Bratz are supposed to land at Walmart any day now. I've only found that one teeny little pic of 'em so far. I have to say I'm a bit surprised by the very idea of a Canadian exclusive - I just hope they're not all snapped up by eBayers before I can get my hands on them. |

| Catching up on the Bratz |
[Oct. 29th, 2006|06:17 pm] |
OK, back to the Bratz updates. Like I said, I've been off BratzWorld and offline in general, so this is probably all old news, but here goes for anyone else who's missed it.
Two of next year's Bratz lines, announced at fall Toy fair: Fashion Pixiez and Hot Summer Dayz. And Julian posted these fantastic Bratz prototype photos on dolly_cafeteria (More comments on his blog, which is linked on the previous d_c post). I assume the fairy girls are the Fashion Pixiez line, although I think there's something a bit wierd going on with the faces, like they're a cross between Bratz and MGA's Storytime Princess dolls.
Bratz Pampered Pupz Charli and Cloe. Cute fashions! I like the name Charli, but I'm a bit tired of the new characters who are a mere facial dot away from being an existing girl. (Insert standard plea for a cute freckly Bratz girl here.)
And it looks like the Bratz Kidz are getting FFM heads too.
I don't know what to make of the Babyz Bride and Groom set. Cute, yes, but I can't help thinking "novelty wedding cake topper" when I see it. And once again, it's a Babyz girl in a tiny top and bare midriff. (I thought the whole bare-midriff look was sort of played out by now?) It really seems to me like MGA is intentionally dressing the Babyz in flashier, tackier, more body-baring outfits than the regular Bratz, and I'd love to know what the marketing logic behind it is, 'cause it's wierding me right out.
I also just stumbled across someone's resume mentioning that she worked on the Kidz Sleepover and Pixiez videos. Meaning, there are going to be CG Kidz Sleepover and Bratz Pixiez videos. Well, the FFM torsos usually match up with the Bratz DVD lines so that's no great shocker, but I'm glad to see the Kidz are getting the DVD promo treatment. That also means for sure that the sleepover Kidz aren't going to be a store exclusive like the Diamondz Kidz.
And nearby to that... DOWNLOADABLE BRATZ CARTOON STORYBOARDS! The artwork is pretty sweet. I like it better than the actual CG, to be honest. I'd love to see a Bratz comic drawn in that style. (But holy crap lady, I hope your boss is cool with you posting that stuff on the Internet...) Note the 2004 copyright on the first one, which look like it's from Forever Diamondz. (Can't be sure 'cause I haven't managed to see it yet! Yikes.) If that's how far in advance they work, then by now they'd probably be storyboarding DVDs for doll lines that'll be out in 2008. |

| Catching up part 3: eBay trawling etc. |
[Oct. 29th, 2006|09:29 pm] |
These are just random auctions and web links:
Sam's Club Diamondz Yasmin regular and Babyz double pack, Diamondz Cloe regular and Babyz double pack.
Bratz Kidz Sleep Over Adventure dolls.
Bratz Kidz Tandem Bike with Yasmin & Cloe.
Bratz Babyz Holiday Lela. Bratz Babyz Holiday Nola. Both Target exclusives. OK, those are adorable.
And now here's something seriously f'ed up: Bratz heads on "anatomically correct" Playboy figurine bodies. (How anatomically correct can they be without any, uh, camel toe? That's Playboy for you, I guess.) At the scale they're at, the Bratz heads actually look too small. Needless to say, these pics are generally Not Safe For Work. Jade, Yasmin.
The Sleepover Kidz are up on Walmart's site, but they've got photos of the old full-size slumber party Bratz instead. Whoops.
Over at Amazon, the Glitz & Glamour interactive DVD is up.
And a random corporate site is already bragging about having their Bratz Fashion Pixiez licensed goodies ready to roll out. |
